Let’s rewind to a defining moment in our journey. It was June 12, 2024, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium. The atmosphere was charged with anticipation. Players, coaches, and every member of this dear club, Ikorodu City FC including you the fans stood on the brink of history. After more than two years, the dream of playing in the NPFL was within reach—but only if we could overcome Madiba FC in the NNL Playoffs.
Ajeyigbe Toheeb understood the weight of the task. His two decisive goals gave us victory, sealing our promotion to the top flight.
Fast forward eight months, and we return to the very ground where our NPFL dream came alive. This time, it’s a different challenge. We take on the defending champions Rangers International on their home turf in NPFL Matchday 22.
Tomorrow, we go again—on the same pitch where the dream became real, ready to keep pushing forward.
The First Face-Off
Our first meeting with Rangers International was on September 12, 2024. It was our first home game in the NPFL, and after picking up a point away at Kwara Utd, we were looking to build momentum. But things didn’t go as planned, and we ended up losing our first home game of the season 0 -1.
That game taught us some valuable lessons. We’ve come a long way since then, and with those lessons under our belt, we’re confident we can go to their ground, take the fight to the champions and leave with three points.
Team News
Everyone is fit and available for selection, including new signing Dada Oladimeji, giving Coach Nurudeen Aweroro plenty of options to choose from.
Why We Are Confident ahead of this one
If there’s any reason for confidence heading into this match, it’s that we’ve proven ourselves against some of the toughest teams in the league time and time again. Plus, being the highest-scoring side so far gives us plenty of belief. But we won’t let overconfidence creep in—we know that any lapse in focus can lead to mistakes. We’ll stay sharp and remain focused.
Rangers Int’l: The Hosts With a Point to Prove
The hosts have plenty to prove in this one, coming off just one win in their last five matches. They’ve also lost their last two home games, which will surely be a concern for them. We know they’ll be hungry to turn things around, but we’re focused on getting a win against the champions. We won’t be distracted by their struggles; our aim is clear.
