Last week was a chance to make it three wins on the bounce, but Enyimba came to the Arena and took a share of the points. No time to dwell on that, though. We got back to winning ways in midweek, beating Sunshine Stars U-19 in the President Federation Cup to book our place in the Round of 32.

Now, it’s back to league action. Matchday 30 takes us to Port Harcourt, where we face Rivers United, aiming to extend our unbeaten run to four games.

How The First Leg Ended in Lagos

This was the fixture that kick-started our six-game unbeaten run back in November—remember that? We controlled the game from start to finish, and second-half goals from Ayomide Cole and Rivio Ayemwenre sealed all three points.

The aim this time is to be even better. We’ve shown we can go to the toughest grounds and prove our quality, and there’s no reason why this trip to Rivers United should be any different.

Team News

Leonard Ngenge is still away on international duty, while Shola Adelani hasn’t fully recovered from illness. Uzo picked up a back injury in the Federation Cup and remains sidelined.

Freedom Marvelous and Adio Ganiyu are still working their way back from knee injuries, and Abdulmalik Olatunji remains unavailable for personal reasons. Kelechi Onwe is back in the squad after serving his suspension.

Facing Rivers United

The Adokiye Amiesiamaka Stadium is never an easy place to go, and with Rivers United chasing the title, they’ll be up for it—especially with a point to prove, also adding that they are unbeaten in five.

But for us, nothing changes. It’s about staying competitive, picking up points, and sticking to our approach. If they’re thinking about revenge, we’re only thinking about one thing—winning.
