Ikorodu City FC, on Monday, spanked Gbagada FC 3-1 in the final Group B game at the ongoing EkoFootball NNL preseason tournament.
The Oga Boys fell behind very early in the first half, after the defense went to sleep, as Bakare Adeyemi opened the scoresheet.
The goal helped solidify Gbagada FC defense as they proved stubborn, although Ikorodu City dominated after falling behind, the leveller did not come until the 37th minute through Farouq Salami fine finish.
Ikorodu City continued their dominance and had a chance to take the lead before the break but they were not too clinical to nick the goal.
At the restart, Ikorodu City continued where they left off, dictating the pace of the game and the larger part of the second half was played in Gbagada’s half.
The Oga Boys caged their opponent in their half, ensuring there were no loose ball that could lead to a counter-attack.
After a resilient effort from the Ikorodu-based side, they took the lead for the first time in the game in the 49th minute through Uzeezi Oghenevo.
Odibo Godwin sealed the win for Ikorodu City FC eight minutes after they took the lead.
With the win, Ikorodu City FC qualified as Group B leaders with seven points and will now face Smart City FC in Thursday’s semi-final fixture.
