A goal in added time from Tosin Oyedokun sealed our win and ensured we would play in the quarter finals of the 2025 Lagos FA Cup as we picked a 3-2 win over FC Bethel at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.
Despite facing the hectic journey from Lafia after picking a point at Nasarawa United two days earlier and arriving on the eve of the game, the lads showed great fighting spirit to find a winner after a difficult second half.
LINEUP: Chinemerem Olughu; Adebayo Adewale, Adio Ganiyu, Freedom Marvelous, Uzochukwu Okekeaniokete; Onwe Kelechi, Olatunji Abdulmalik, Tosin Oyedokun; Shola Adelani, Alade Solomon & Chineme Chinonso.
The lads took the first 30 minutes to shake off the traveling feeling and tiredness after which two goals went in. Shola Adelani continued his fine form, receiving a pass from Tosin, takin a shot ouch and then firing a low hit to open the scoring. Ten minutes later, Chineme Chinonso doubled the lead then the goalkeeper fumbled an effort from Ayomide Cole as we went into the break with a two goal lead.
The second half was a different turn as the opponents came out stronger with our lads feeling their legs already. FC Bethel pulled one back in the 52nd minute and then leveled the score in the 86th minute.
It looked as thought we were headed for a penalty shootout decider until Tosin Oyedokun slammed the winner direct from a freekick in the first minute of added time to send us to the last 8.
We take on Seamoriow FC in the quarter final on Thursday 20th February, 2025, a day after facing Plateau United in the NPFL MD25 clash.
