We started our Lagos Football Association Cup title defense with a 2-1 win over Power Of the Cross to make our way into the last 16 of the competition.
This is the 4th time we are taking part in this competition in our history and we are the current holders as well as the winners of the last two editions of the competition.
LINEUP: Chinemerem Olughu; Adebayo Adewale, Adio Ganiyu, Freedom Marvelous, Olatunji Abdulmalik; Onwe Kelechi, Folarin Temitope, Gidado Toyeeb; Ayomide Cole, Alade Solomon & Wisdom Ubani.
The competition gave rise for a chance to give minutes to many players. Wisdom Ubani finally made his debut for us. Folarin’s had his first start in our jersey, Gidado captained the side and Olatunji started in the defense.
We started the game with total dominance as expected by the majority as the team also tried to iron out a smooth relationship amongst all the rotation in the team. A few half chances here and there as Alade Solomon scoffed an effort from close range before setting up Ubani who headed into goal but was canceled for offside.
The first half ended goalless and the second sparked some changes from the technical team as Moses and Toyeeb Ajeyigbe came on to replace Gidado and Ubani. Kelechi Onwe got the arm band for the first time for the club.
Chineme Chinonso got our first goal of the game knocking in a cross at the back post to put us in front. The lead was however short lived as the opponents responded five minutes later.
With more substitutions and no goal, it was shaping up to be a game of massive toil with no results and waiting on the lottery of penalties to pick our place in the next round.
Chineme Chinonso however got his brace to seal our win. The striker had missed a big chance with just two minutes to go and it seemed all over until one last final move of the game. Austin delivered an inch perfect cross to the box and Chinemerem headed in to silence the visiting crowd and we sealed our place in the round of 16.
