The encounter kicked off with an early surge from Ikorodu City’s captain, Wasiu, who led a promising attack in the first minute, setting the tone for a spirited contest. However, despite several attempts from players like Paul and Ayomide, Ikorodu City’s efforts were thwarted by a resolute defense and an outstanding performance from Ijebu United’s goalkeeper.
There were occasional flashes of brilliance from the likes of Adelani Shola and Harrison Uzondu, the visitors remained steadfast at the back, denying their opponents any breakthroughs as the game went into the break without a goal.
The second half saw a brief disruption due to an injury to an Ijebu United player, highlighting the physical intensity of the derby.
