For the first time since our first Nigeria National League game (NNL) in 2021/22 season, Ikorodu City has registered a first win in a Lagos derby league game after a 2-1 comeback win against Tradesafe FC.
LINE UP: Godwin Victor (GK), Waliu Ojetoye (c), Harrison Uzondu, Stephen Michael, Chibuike Prestige, Oladoja Elijah, Gidado Toyeeb, Salau Yusuf, Adelani Shola, Oyedokun Tosin & Onyema Emmanuel.
A cagey affair it was in the first half as both Lagos teams played on familiar turf. With the first leg ending goalless and both teams on opposite ends of the table and chasing different goals, Ikorodu City took control of the game but a flurry of missed chances made the first half end goalless.
After ten minutes of a corresponding start to the second half, Tradesafe FC found space in behind the defense and took the lead, putting pressure on Ikorodu City.
A couple of changes from coach Bright, Fatai and Tunde were introduced and the former became instrumental to the rest of the game creating chances on the left before Shola laid a pass for Salau to strike and bring us level.
Fatai soon became provider, making a darting run past the defender before laying for Onyema Emmanuel to hit a spectacular goal to put us ahead.
It ended 2-1 in favour of Ikorodu City, picking a first win in the Lagos derby and keeping their place at the top of the table heading into the final four games of the regular season.
