We begin our historical NPFL season with a trip to Katsina to take on Kano Pillars on Sunday for the match day 1 schedule – but Bright Ozebagbe believes “we have nothing to lose in the game.”
The weekend’s opponents have enjoyed longevity and laurels in the NPFL and will come into the game with lots of changes in the squad and technical crew.
Their new boss, Usman Abdallah is a man who knows the league well having won the title with Enyimba. Bright believes Pillars, who have adopted Muhammed Dikko stadium as their new home, might underestimate us.
“Every match is difficult regardless of the opponents.” Bright said. “We are going to face the challenges, we are tagged as underdogs so I think that will help us.”
“I think continuity is key and we still have most of our old players with us, we have integrated the new players and the synergy has been good from results we had in preseason.” “The team is balanced in every area.”
“I think we are ready, we are well prepared. The mentality is good and we are ready to play football.”
“Our main target is to retain our NPFL status and that’s how we will approach every game.”
Club’s captain, Waliu Ojetoye also shares the same sentiments as the coach. “We are ready in every area.” He believes the Kano Pillars game is a “good start to the season.”
“It will test our mentality. It will test our character on the field.”
