We’re heading into our matchday 11 game against Katsina United with real momentum after a strong start to November. Last weekend, we made a big statement by ending Rivers United’s 9-game unbeaten run, proving that we are no pushovers. The win over Rivers United gave us a solid confidence boost and showed what we’re capable of this season. Now, we’ve got another tough test up north against Katsina United, and we’re ready for the challenge.
Our Previous Trip to Katsina
Our last visit to Katsina in September wasn’t easy—we lost 3-0 to Kano Pillars, who have the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina as their adopted home ground. That result was a tough reminder of how challenging away games can be. But results in recent weeks show we’re a different team now, stronger and more connected, with growth. Going back to Katsina this time is our chance to show just how much we’ve improved since that first game.
Team News
In team news, Kelechi Onwe is back, but this game comes too soon for him. Also missing is goalkeeper Damilare Aina, who picked up a knock during the warm-up last Sunday against Rivers United.
Midfielder Gidado Toyeeb and captain Waliu Ojetoye, who were both called up to the national team, will also join the squad in Katsina for this match.
Prepared for the test
Keeping a clean sheet against Rivers United was a huge confidence boost, especially after ending their unbeaten run. This game presents another tough challenge, but it’s also a chance to keep pushing up the table. Our players are motivated to prove themselves. Being solid in defense will be crucial and with our recent form in front of goal, we’re confident we can break down Katsina’s defense. That’s exactly what we’ll be aiming to do.
Katsina United’s Strong Home Record
Katsina United have been tough to beat at home, with three wins and two draws so far this season. They’ve made their home ground a real stronghold and you can expect them to fight hard to keep that unbeaten run going. Facing a team that’s yet to lose at home is never easy, but we’re up for the challenge. Our win over Rivers United showed that we can rise to the occasion and put an end to even the most impressive records.
