Our second trip to Abia in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL 2024/25) saw us face Abia Warriors in the penultimate game of the first half of the season.

LINEUP: Faith James; Harrison Uzondu, Chibuike Oheagbulam, Leo Ngenge, Adewale Adebayo; Olatunji Abdulmalik, Tosin Oyedokun, Salau Yusuf; Alade Solomon, Chineme Chinonso & Emmanuel Solomon.

The host raced into an early lead after finding the back of the net in the seventh minute of the game.

The lads struggled to get into their stride due to the turf but still churned out a few chances. Alade worked the goalkeeper before a header off a corner from Tosin was saved.

Just before the half time break, Abia Warriors extended their lead, capitalizing on a defensive mix up to take a 2-0 scoreline into the break.

Five minutes into the start of the second half and Ayomide Cole came on to replace Chineme Chinonso as we fought for a way back into the game.

Cole quickly sprung to life after meeting Adewale’s cross with a near post shot that forced the goalkeeper into a save. Leonard Ngenge was the next as he sent a long range strike just inches wide.

The final chance of the game fell to Ezekiel Samuel who came on in added time with the young striker failing to beat the goalkeeper from close range as the game ended in a defeat for us.
