Ikorodu City fell to a 2-1 defeat in Uyo against Akwa United on matchday 35 of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) 24/25.
After picking up a point at El Kanemi, the lads journeyed from Maiduguri to Uyo to face Akwa United in the hopes of continuing a fine form in the month of April.
LINEUP: Aina Oluwadamilare; Waliu Ojetoye, Harrison Austin, Chibuike Oheagbulam, Leonard Ngenge; Onwe Kelechi, Salawu Yusuf, Tosin Oyedokun; Emmanuel Solomon, Adelani Shola & Wisdom Ubani.
A first start for striker Wisdom Ubani less than 19 minutes was what he needed to open the scoring, receiving a header from Emmanuel Solomon, racing towards goal and hitting one past the goalkeeper to give us the lead.
The goal gave us more control but the host backed by the crowd stepped up their game and leveled barely 10 minutes later and even forcing Aina into another save as the first half ended one apiece.
The second half was evenly poised after we made a triple substitution. James one of those as he replaced Aina in goal. The goalkeeper was immediately called to action as he denied the host in a one-v-one situation.
With a quarter of an hour left, the home side went in front for the first time in the game and bad became worse for us 5 minutes later when Kelechi Onwe received his marching orders. A straight red for a foul on an Akwa United player as the game ended 2-1 in favor of the home side.
