We’ve basically been on a travel tour lately 😅 with, first visiting Benin for the President Federation Cup round of 16 clash against Beyond Limits FA, then back-to-back away league trips for MD34 and MD35 and finally, straight into Abuja for a quarter final Federation Cup tie against Wikki Tourists. Thankfully, we got the job done there and booked our place in the semis.
Now it’s midweek and we’re finally back home. Just two more home games to go this season, and next up is Bayelsa United on MD36. Nothing has changed in priority — it is still about staying sharp, staying competitive, and pushing till the very end.
The First Leg in Yenogoa
We came into that December meeting with Bayelsa United on Matchday 16 riding a six-game unbeaten run: five wins, one draw, momentum clearly on our side. We were confident, not complacent. But football has a way of humbling you.
A brief lapse in concentration, just one moment in the 79th minute, and that was it, a one-nil loss. A game we looked set to take something from slipped away.
Still, that night didn’t change how we saw ourselves. We weren’t just passengers in the league, we were building something, proving we belonged. Losses come. What matters is how you respond. And we moved on.
Team News
Ganiyu Adio remains in recovery, while Freedom Marvelous is edging closer to a return. There’s positive news elsewhere. Toyeeb Ajeyigbe is back in full training and available for selection. Kelechi Onwe is also back in the mix after the red card he received away at Akwa United was overturned following a successful appeal.
The Feeling of Playing at Home Once Again
Seven home games in 2025. Six wins, one draw. Twenty-one goals scored, just five conceded. The numbers speak for themselves. It’s not about overconfidence, it’s about knowing what we’re capable of. We’ve done it before, time and again.
Bayelsa United won’t be any different. Not with you, our fans behind us. You’ve been massive, every step of the way. That backing is not just noise, it’s fuel. And with that, we’re not settling for anything less than all three points.
