For the final time this season, we hit the road — one last away game in the NPFL, and fittingly, it’s a South West Derby. Our sixth of the season, and the last.
This Sunday, we go to Ikenne to face Remo Stars, the champions. And in a moment of real football honour, we’ll line up before kick-off to give them theirs. A guard of honour, from one proud side to another.
Because whatever colours we wear, respect still matters. And in our own right, this has been a season of honour for us too, a year of growth, fight, and something to build on.
When We Faced In Lagos
Back in December, it was a real battle at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena. Intense, physical, and loud. It was everything you’d expect from a South West Derby.
Remo Stars showed exactly why they’re so highly rated, and the reason they’ve built a reputation as one of the most commanding sides in these derby games. But we weren’t there to make up the numbers as we also showed our prowess.
We went behind early in the eighth minute and had to fight our way back into it. It looked like it was slipping away. But in the 90th minute, Chineme Chinonso lit up the Arena with a late equaliser that felt like more than just a goal. It was a statement to them, and to everyone else that we belong here in the League.
Team News
Not much has changed on the team news front since the midweek clash with Bayelsa United.
Ganiyu Adio is still going through his recovery process, while Marvelous has returned to training. But this one comes a bit too soon for him.
Facing Remo Stars
Remo Stars might already have the title wrapped up, but we know this game still carries weight. It’s their final home match of the season, the day they lift the trophy in front of their fans and we know they won’t be easing off.
We know they’ll come out fighting, and we’ll also come out fighting harder. Because for us, there’s still something on the line, the pride, momentum, and a chance to finish strong.
We’ve taken two wins, two draws, and just one loss in South West derbies this season. It’s a solid return. But we’d like more. We want one more win to tip that balance, and we’ll give everything to get it.
