Ikorodu City picked a point on the road in the Nigeria Premier Football League match day seven fixture against Heartland of Owerri.

It was the second consecutive time that the Oga Boys would go ahead in a fixture, picking four points in two games consecutively.

LINE UP: Aina Oluwadamilare; Waliu Ojetoye, Harrison Uzondu, Chibuike Oheagbulam, Leonard Ngenge; Kelechi Onwe, Tosin Oyedokun, Rivio Ayemwenre; Alade Solomon, Salau Yusuf and Ayomide Cole.

At the Dan Anyiam stadium in Owerri, Ikorodu City started on the front foot taking the game to the home side and were rewarded inside the first five minutes of the game to go in front.

After good work from Alade Solomon holding up play, Waliu made a darting run and received a pass from the latter, then sent a good cross into the box that was met by Salau Yusuf’s header which was then deflected in by the home sides defender to give us the lead.

Ayomide Cole picked up an injury after being knocked down in the 23rd minute and was replaced by Chineme Chinonso. Tosin Oyedokun also had to leave the pitch with a stomach problem in the same minute and was replaced by Toyeeb Ajeyigbe.

The first half wore on like an eternity with the goal shaking the home side and forcing them to attack more but the break would come with Ikorodu City leading.

A couple of changes in the second half for the home side and they started in the ascendancy with a few chances coming their way.

The home side equalised in the 66th minute courtesy a strike from Chukwuma Agor that beat Aina in goal. From then on, it became desperate pressure from the home side to get the winner.

Chibuike and Leonard were called into action a huge number of times and the centre backs stood their ground providing a powerful performance to keep us in the game along with the full backs and goalkeeper Aina.

With eight minutes left to play, Toyeeb Ajeyigbe got booked a second time and got his marching orders as we had to finish the game with ten men. Six minutes of stoppage time was added but ran into twelve eventually before the final whistle went. We picked a vital point on the road.
