The red card shown to Kelechi Onwe on Matchday 35 of the Nigeria Premier Football League has been overturned and the player will now be available for selection on the next Matchday.

The NPFL statement reads, “The official report of the referee indicates the following disciplinary measures taken against the under-listed player of your team. However, following your appeal and subsequent review of the incident, the following decision was reached. Kelechi Onwe; Red Card MD35 overturned and stepped down to a yellow card. Player now available for selection”.

Kelechi was shown a straight red card in the 80th minute against Akwa United in Uyo which meant the midfielder will miss the next three consecutive games and in essence, will not be available for league action till the end of the season as we have only three games left in the league season.

However, following a successful appeal by the club, Kelechi will be available for the next game against Bayelsa United at home this midweek on the 7th of May, 2025.
