Ikorodu City FC are through to the semi finals of the President Federation Cup 2025 for the first time after defeating Wikki Tourist of Bauchi 1-0 in Abuja.
We had earlier gone past Beyond Limits FA in the round of 16 to book a place in the quarter finals before going on two league trips in Maiduguri and Uyo and then diverting to Abuja to face Wikki Tourist at the Bwari Township Stadium
LINEUP: James Faith; Waliu Ojetoye, Harrison Austin, Chibuike Oheagbulam, Leonard Ngenge; Onwe Kelechi, Salawu Yusuf, Tosin Oyedokun; Emmanuel Solomon, Adelani Shola & Wisdom Ubani.
Wikki Tourist having played two of their previous three Federation Cup game in Abuja, started as the better side due to more familiarity with the ground and posed a threat to the duo of Chibuike and Leonard early in the game.
James however covered the goal well, and coupled with a few defensive blocks, we kept the scores goalless going into the break and taking confidence in the little chances we created.
Ten minutes after the break however, we opened the scoring courtesy a well taken penalty kick from Shola Adelani. The forward was brought down in the box as he attempted to go for a cross and the penalty was awarded.
Wikki Tourists kept piling pressure and forcing Ikorodu City play on the break and matters became worse when Leonard Ngenge was shown a straight red.
The lads did keep things tight and broke free in the latter stages of the game before Rivio was hacked down by a Wikki defender who then received a straight red and both teams down to ten.
We however saw the game out and will now face Ebonyi side Abakaliki FC in the semi finals for a shot at the final two of the competition.
UP NEXT
We return home after twenty days on the road from one venue to another, to now face Bayelsa United back in league action for Matchday 36 as the season begins to draw to an end.
