We faced a determined Barau FC in the quarter finals of the 2026 President Federation Cup and a dominant substitute performance from Ayoola Ibrahim sent us on our way to the semi finals for a second consecutive season.
Taking place at the Awka City Stadium, home fans were difficult to come by but the lads put up a strong fight to give us a chance at getting on the continent.
Goodluck Anuba was forced off early in the first half to injury and Ayoola Ibrahim came on to replace him with the striker ensuring we go into the break in front after meeting a perfect cross from Gift Udoh with a powerful header.
Barau returned stronger after the break to not just draw level but go in front with two goals off the run of play and it looked all said and done as we entered into the final ten minutes of the game. This time, another cross from the right hand side but from the captain of the second half, Folarin Temitope, who had replaced Tosin Oyedokun in the second half, had Ayoola stretching to contact and loop the ball with a single touch over the keeper, off the crossbar and down beyond the line to bring us level 2-2 and force penalties.
With six kicks in the penalties, we lost just one as Bada Moses slotted home the final kick to give us another semi final ticket in the President Federation Cup. We will face Nasarawa United next in the tie on Monday 15th June 2026.
