Ikorodu City fell to a 2-0 defeat on match day two of the Nigeria National League 2022/2023 season to Abeokuta Stormers Sports Club at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.

Three changes to the side that sealed an opening day win saw Alex Ekwunife, Toyeeb Gidado and Ayomide Cole drop out of the team due to injuries and we’re replaced by Harrison Austin, Tony Joel and Paul Aderibigbe respectively.

As always, it was a dominant start for Ikorodu City who took total control of the game for the entire first half. A flurry of missed chances prevented us from going in front with the host unable to have a shot on target in the first half.

The second half got off to a flying start for the home side who took advantage of poor defending to score the first goal of the game.

It became a tough battle to level matters, throwing bodies forward which left to a deficit in defense for Ikorodu City.

Four changes were made by the coaches to change the tide but all efforts proved abortive as the home side doubled their lead through a deflected shot off Michael.

The game continued to run away from Ikorodu City and four minutes additional time was not enough to grab a point as we fell to a defeat.
