As November unfolded, we quietly but firmly made our mark, picking up wins that highlighted not just our talent on the field but our determination as a team. Following the highs of October, our spirit stayed strong, proving we’re a force to be reckoned with. It’s a story of resilience, one built on hard work, passion and a clear focus on our goals.
November will be a month to remember for you, the fans, as we secured four (4) wins and a draw in the league. In case you missed it, here’s a look back at how we navigated November in the NPFL and the journey that unfolded.
A Commanding Start: Ikorodu City 2 – 0 Rivers United
November started with a statement 2-0 win over Rivers United at home, a result that was about more than just the three points. It was a performance that underscored our growing confidence under pressure, as we ended Rivers United’s nine-match unbeaten run. Ayomide Cole broke the deadlock early in the second half, with Waliu Ojetoye the provider. Just seven minutes later, Rivio Ayemwenre doubled the advantage, coolly finishing a perfectly weighted pass from Toyeeb Ajeyigbe. The message was clear—we are here to make a statement.
The Late Show: Katsina United 1 – 2 Ikorodu City
The trip to Katsina United on November 10th proved a real test of character for the team. After conceding an early goal, Solomon Alade leveled the score in the 43rd minute, thanks to an assist from Emmanuel Solomon. As the game neared its conclusion, we showed fighting spirit. In the 89th minute, it was Emmanuel Solomon’s turn to play the hero, scoring the winner after connecting with Rivio Ayemwenre’s pass. It was a dramatic finish—a clear reflection of our never-say-die mentality.
Securing Derby Rights: Ikorodu City 2 – 1 Shooting Stars
If any doubts lingered about our resolve, this game was the one to put them to rest. Our first South West Derby saw us begin a new rivalry with Shooting Stars of Ibadan.
November 17th delivered one of the most exciting games of the month. After a tight first half where we once again found ourselves behind, we came into our own in the second. Shola Adelani’s 58th-minute goal brought us level, and then, in the final minutes of the game, we did what we do best. With just two minutes left, Rivio Ayemwenre rose to meet a brilliant Harrison Austin cross, heading home the winner in the 88th minute. It was a crucial, dramatic finish that sealed the points and earned us derby bragging rights, showcasing both our attacking threat and our ability to hold our nerve when it mattered most.
Minna Stalemate: Niger Tornadoes 0-0 Ikorodu City
On November 23rd, we were put to the test in Minna, where a 0-0 draw with Niger Tornadoes was far from the drama of previous weeks, but it still proved to be a crucial point. Without the heroics of goalkeeper James Faith, we might have left empty-handed. The team defended resolutely, absorbing pressure from a determined opposition while looking to exploit counter-attacking opportunities. It wasn’t a game for the purists, but in the context of the season, it highlighted our ability to adapt—solid, disciplined and tough when it mattered most.
A Strong Finish: Ikorodu City 2-0 El Kanemi Warriors
We rounded off November with a commanding 2-0 win over El Kanemi Warriors on November 27th. It was the perfect way to close a month defined by steady growth and clinical execution. Shola Adelani broke the deadlock in the 62nd minute, finishing off an Ayomide Cole’s assist. Cole then put the result beyond doubt with a powerful strike in the 77th minute, set up by Tosin Oyedokun. It was a performance that left no doubt: we are a team on the rise.
Steady Progress: Consistent improvement throughout the month.
Throughout November, we showed that our success wasn’t just about flashes of brilliance, but about the consistency and hard work that define top teams. With key players like Ayomide Cole, Shola Adelani, Rivio Ayemwenre and James Faith stepping up when it mattered most, the team’s collective resilience has been the foundation of our rise.
Ending the month with 13 points from 15, scoring 8 goals, and conceding 2, we are in a strong position moving forward.
