After seeing his team complete an unbeaten run in November and claim a 2-0 win over thrid place El Kanemi Warriors, head coach Nurudeen Aweroro exclaimed his happiness on the run and the win.
The gaffer shared in his post match thoughts that he had “told the players the win would give us an edge.”
The gaffer explained that the win is a big “motivation” for the teams “as it was an opportunity climb higher on the log.”
“When I get home, my next thought will be the next game. That’s how much motivation this game has given us.”
Rivio Ayemwenre had been the team’s super sub but he started the match against El Kanemi Warriors and the gaffer gave his reasons.
“Rivio had a great game at Niger Tornadoes. We had planned he would start here and give us the same thing as he did at Tornadoes. But it didn’t work as planned but we were to manage and work out other plans.”
Aweroro also mentioned on the second half performance.
“We can kill off games in the first half as well. But what we do alot is study the approach of the opponent and find the weaknesses to explore in the second. Hence our performance in the second half.”
Ikorodu City finished November unbeaten with 4 wins and a draw to climb as high as 5th on the log.
The team opens their December schedule with hosting 2021 champions, Akwa United on match day 15 proceedings of the NPFL 24/25 season.
